Abstract

The purpose of this research found out the simple, partial, and multiple correlationals between (1) Tidal volume (2) Hemoglobin levels (3) Heart rate with maximal oxygen volume. The amount of oxygen content is required by tissues wich are influenced by respiratory system as an oxygen supplies, hemoglobin levels as an oxygen carrier, and cardiovascular system that distributes oxygen to tissues by its cardiac output. The research was conducted in seven sport clubs at Surakarta for 2001 employing a descriptive-correlational methode. Eightyfive athletes as a sample are taken by cluster sampling. Simple, partial, and multiple regressions and variance analysis with 95% validity were used to analyze the data. The research concluded (1) There was positive correlational between tidal volume and maximal oxygen volume (2) There was positive correlational between hemoglobin level and maximal oxygen volume (3) There was negative correlational between heart rate and maximal oxygen volume (4) If heart rate was controlled, there was positive correlational between hemoglobin level, heart rate and maximal oxygen volume (5) If heart rate was controlled, there was positive correlational between tidal volume, heart rate and maximal oxygen volume (6) If heart rate was controlled, there was positive correlational between hemoglobin level, heart rate and maximal oxygen volume (7) In concert tidal volume, hemoglobin level, and heart rate were positive correlations to maximal oxygen volume. Tidal volume, hemoglobin level, and heart rate efectively contributed VO2max as 12,32%, 36,97% and 45,51% respectively. Three predictors above is concert determined 94,8% maximal oxygen volume.
