Abstract

This research analyzes sexual harassment at Japanese-themed events and its negative impacts. Using a qualitative approach, it was conducted from April 20 to September 15, 2024, involving 10 cosplay visitors and 5 event organizers. The study aims to develop prevention strategies based on Jurgen Habermas' public space theory, exploring how various parties can contribute. Findings show harassment includes inappropriate comments, unwanted touching, and stalking. The role of costumes in harassment was debated, with mixed opinions on their influence. The growth of online Japanese pop culture communities shapes perceptions of harassment, influenced by cultural differences between Japan and Indonesia. Prevention strategies emphasize collaboration between organizers and attendees, focusing on discussion and education about sexual harassment to create safer event spaces.
