Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of PKBM Pemimpin Anak Bangsa in shaping consientization for underprivileged people who drop out of school. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research was conducted at Rumah Belajar PKBM Pemimpin Anak Bangsa, South Tangerang, from May to July 2024. Data was collected through observation, interviews and triangulation with nine informants, including the principal, tutors, curriculum division, partnerships, students and alumni. Using Scott and Davis' organizational theory and Paulo Freire's concept of conscientization, the results show that PKBM plays a role in increasing the conscientization of underprivileged communities through the transformation of consciousness in the form of magical consciousness, naive consciousness, and critical consciousness that opens people's minds to the importance of education. This transformation can be seen from alumni who continue their higher education and students who are more confident in showing their talents. With a rational, natural, and open system perspective, PKBM Pemimpin Anak Bangsa has succeeded in providing access to education for underprivileged people who are constrained by costs, encouraging social change through non-formal education.
