Transformation of Ondel-ondel as a Livelihood in PIK Penggilingan East Jakarta

Abstract

In today's rapidly globalizing world, there have been many social changes in both form and meaning. One of these is the social change in cultural traditions. Researchers are studying the phenomenon of “The Transformation of Ondel-Ondel into a Livelihood in the Era of Globalization.” Ondel-ondel, a traditional art form originating from Betawi, was once considered a sacred element of culture. However, with the advent of globalization, ondel-ondel has transformed into a new means of livelihood in the Jakarta area and its surroundings. Therefore, the focus of this paper lies on the changes in the function and meaning of ondel-ondel within the social structure of Betawi society and urban Jakarta.
