Students have not fully demonstrated awareness of the environment. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of measuring student environmental awareness (EA) which integrates Indonesian local culture towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This research design uses survey research. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with purposive sampling technique with a sample of 362 Biology Education students spread throughout Indonesia. This research questionnaire uses a Likert scale of 1-5. Data collection used a questionnaire containing statements totaling 17 items. All indicators as exogenous variables except SDGs as endogenous variables. This study used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis through the SmartPLS application. The research results show that there is an influence between culturally integrated environmental awareness, awareness of responsibility, and finding solutions to environmental problems against the SDGs. However, the indicator of realizing its role in the environment has no effect on the SDGs, even though the simultaneous influence of all exogenous variables is in the moderate category on the SDGs. The conclusion from this study is that there is a positive influence between culturally integrated environmental awareness, student awareness of responsibility for the environment, and awareness in finding solutions to environmental problems towards the SDGs, but still needs to be improved. Strengthening Indonesian local culture rooted in local wisdom in growing environmental awareness is urgently needed to achieve sustainable development goals. The recommendation in this study is that the use of an active learning approach, for example STEAM, which can stimulate creative problem-solving skills for environmental problems, can be a solution in developing students' environmental awareness.
2023-08-28T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Biosfer: Jurnal Pendidikan Biologi https://journal.unj.ac.id/unj/index.php/biosfer/article/view/35534 The Improving evidence-based argumentation on socioscientific issues through problem-based learning in science students 2023-08-31T13:55:03+07:00 Luthfiana Nurtamara luthfiana.nurtamara@ulm.ac.id Dewi Amelia Widyastuti luthfiana.nurtamara@ulm.ac.id
In the scientific education, improving the argumentation skills in socioscientific issues was very important to educate young people as an active society. Through PBL models with HPC strategies, elementary science learning can potentially train high-level thinking, including metacognitive awareness and critical thinking skills. This study aims to reveal the contribution of metacognitive awareness to critical thinking skills with PBL models and HPC strategies. Various studies report that PBL has shortcomings in fostering metacognition and critical thinking. Therefore, PBL needs to be implemented with the homogeneity psycho cognition (HPC) strategy so that students can rise in organizing metacognitive awareness and critical thinking. This correlational study examined the relationship between metacognitive awareness and students' critical thinking skills. The predictor and criterion variables in the study were metacognitive awareness and critical thinking skills, respectively. Data analysis was conducted with linear regression. The results showed a correlation between metacognitive awareness and critical thinking skills in learning with PBL. There is a moderate relationship between the two variables. The predictor variables contributed 28.4% to the criterion variable. This study recommends that PBL with HPC is very important to be familiarized with learning in elementary schools to encourage students' metacognition and critical thinking skills.
2023-09-11T21:40:40+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Biosfer: Jurnal Pendidikan Biologi
