This research aims to influence the decision-making process in selecting sub-techniques of Higi-wydler's as a general guideline or rule of thumb, particularly for translators. This study used a descriptive analytic approach to compare the original and translated versions of a book named "Pangeran Pencuri/The thief lord" (2006) in both German and Indonesian languages. Data collection in this study involved the utilization of note-taking strategy. To validate the data, the Idiom Dictionary <em>Duden Redewendungen </em>(DR) (2013) and Kamus Idiom Bahasa Indonesia (KIBI) Abdul Chaer (1984) were employed. The results of this investigation are as follows: (1) The Higi-wydler idiom translation approach was most commonly used for the <em>null Äquivalenz</em> category, namely for 45 idioms, which accounts for about 97% of the total; (2) Only 3% or 1 idiom, fell under the <em>total Äquivalenz</em> category; (3) None of the 46 detected idioms could be classified as <em>partielle Äquivalenz</em>. This demonstrates the considerable challenge in finding suitable counterparts for translating such idioms. Therefore, it is necessary to rephrase the translation of idioms owing to the distinct differences in both the structure of Bahasa Indonesia and its culture compared to the German language and its culture. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan teori dari Sowinski, Schmid, Welke, dan Duden. Objek yang diteliti berupa 4 kalimat dalam iklan McDonald dengan jenis kalimat deklaratif yang ditemukan pada akun Instagram resmi McDonald negara Jerman periode Juni – Agustus 2023. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konstruksi netral dan emosional dalam kalimat deklaratif berbahasa Jerman bergantung kepada bagaimana posisi subjek dalam kalimat. Jika subjek diletakkan pada posisi gatra depan kalimat, maka kalimat berkonstruksi netral, namun jika selain subjek diletakkan pada posisi gatra depan kalimat, maka kalimat deklaratif berkonstruksi emosional. Dalam kaitannya dengan konstruksi kalimat dalam 4 iklan McDonald Jerman yang dianalisis, 2 di antaranya merupakan kalimat deklaratif berkonstruksi netral dengan subjek berada di posisi Vorfeld, sementara 2 lainnya merupakan kalimat deklaratif berkonstruksi emosional, dengan posisi <em>Vorfeld</em> ditempati oleh nomina yang merujuk kepada produk McDonald dan suatu situasi berupa komentar salah satu musisi terkenal di Jerman.</p> 2023-11-30T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Prahoro Yudo Purwono https://journal.unj.ac.id/unj/index.php/brila/article/view/37300 The Use of Chinesimple Application to Train Chinese Vocabulary Mastery of Chinese Language Education Study Program Students of State University of Malang 2023-12-01T02:14:54+07:00 Ayu Nur Choiriyah ayunurchoiriyah55@gmail.com Lilis Afifah lilis.afifah.fs@um.ac.id Karina Fefi Laksana Sakti karryna.sakti.fs@um.ac.id <p>This study aimed to describe the use of the Chinesimple app to train the mastery of Chinese vocabulary of Chinesimple students at the State University of Malang and to find out their responses to the applied app. The method used in this study was a descriptive qualitative method with the subject of 30 students offering A Chinese Language Education Study Program, State University of Malang. In this study, researchers used observation sheets and questionnaire sheets as research instruments. The results of this study show that the use of the Chinesimple app to train the mastery of PSPBM UM Chinese vocabulary runs well. In the learning process, the Chinesimple app is able to support students in mastering Chinese vocabulary. The students also reveral positif responses that can be seen from the high enthusiasm and interest of students in using the app. Students stated that the Chinesimple app is very helpful for mastering Chinese vocabulary and it may be used as a learning medium since it is accessible, effective, and efficient.</p> 2023-11-30T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Ayu Nur Choiriyah, Lilis, Karina Fefi Laksana Sakti
