Abstract

Learning Arabic means learning a language with diverse and flexible word formation patterns. Arabic is not a mother tongue for Indonesian students, but rather a second language, so they often encounter various obstacles and difficulties in the learning process. This is because of several differences between Arabic and Indonesian. So a creative and innovative learning process is needed. The use of creative and innovative learning media can create an interesting learning atmosphere. Social media is currently one of the media instructors employ as a non-boring learning innovation. Therefore, this study aims to identify the types of social media used in learning Arabic at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. This research is a literature study, using qualitative research data with descriptive method elaboration, so that the data is obtained through the in-depth study of the texts of books and articles that discuss the use of social media in Arabic. The results of this study reveal that the social media platforms widely used for learning Arabic at the elementary, middle, and high school levels are WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok. This social media supports learning at the elementary, middle, and high levels in learning language skills (al-maharah al-lughawi) such as (Istima', Kalam, Qira'ah, and Kitabah).
