Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to EduPrime undergo a comprehensive two-stage evaluation process designed to ensure quality and relevance before publication.
Stage 1: Initial Editorial Review
The editorial team conducts a preliminary assessment to determine whether the submission meets the journal's requirements. This stage includes:
1. Scope Alignment: Verification that the article's content matches the journal's focus and subject areas.
2. Format Compliance: Evaluation of the manuscript's adherence to formatting guidelines and style requirements.
3. Plagiarism Screening: Detection of potential plagiarism using one or more tools, including Google Scholar, Plagiarism Checker-X Pro, Turnitin, or iThenticate.
Manuscripts that do not meet these basic criteria are rejected at this stage without proceeding to peer review.
Stage 2: Substantive Peer Review
Submissions that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers for evaluation. Key features of this stage include:
1. Double-Blind Review: Reviewers know the authors' identities, but authors do not know who is reviewing their work.
2. Expert Assessment: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript's methodology, originality, significance, and contribution to the field.
3. Iterative Review Option: If necessary, reviewers may request to re-evaluate the manuscript after the author completes revisions.
Editorial Decisions
Based on reviewer feedback and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief issues one of four possible decisions:
1. Accept Submission
The manuscript is approved for publication without any modifications required.
2. Revisions Required
The manuscript will be accepted after minor changes are implemented. Important conditions apply:
- Authors must return revised manuscripts promptly.
- Revisions submitted more than 20 days after the decision will be treated as new submissions.
- Revised manuscripts should be resubmitted through the Online Submission Interface.
3. Resubmit for Review
The manuscript requires substantial revisions but has potential for acceptance. This decision means:
- Major modifications are necessary.
- The revised manuscript will undergo a second complete review round.
- Acceptance is possible if significant improvements are made.
4. Decline Submission
The manuscript will not be published in the journal, typically due to insufficient quality, poor fit with the journal's scope, or methodological concerns.
Publication Timeline
Once a manuscript is accepted:
1. The article undergoes layout and formatting.
2. It is published in the "In Progress" section ahead of the scheduled regular issue.
3. This early online publication allows immediate indexing in databases and enables citation before the full issue release.
4. The article later appears in the regular issue according to the publication schedule.
Final Authority
While peer reviewers provide expert recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief holds ultimate decision-making authority regarding manuscript acceptance and publication.
Quality Assurance
All plagiarism detection is performed using professional software tools, including Plagiarism Checker-X Pro, Turnitin, or iThenticate, ensuring the originality and integrity of published work.
Publication Schedule
EduPrime published twice a year, on April and October.
Open Access Policy
EduPrime operates on an immediate open access model, founded on the belief that providing unrestricted public access to research enhances worldwide knowledge dissemination.
Every article released under Open Access becomes instantly and indefinitely available for all readers to access and download at no cost. EduPrime maintains ongoing collaboration with its author network to determine the most appropriate licensing framework, specifically the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license.
Archiving
The journal adopts the LOCKSS system to facilitate a distributed preservation network among participating library institutions, permitting them to establish permanent archival copies of the journal for protection and restoration needs.
Plagiarism
All manuscripts are initially screened for plagiarism using Plagiarism Checker X, Turnitin, or iThenticate before publication consideration. The text will be accepted for further review only when the plagiarism detection shows a similarity percentage below 25%
References Management
All papers submitted to EduPrime are advised to employ reference management tools like Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
Publication Ethics and Malpractise Statment
EduPrime operates as a peer-reviewed electronic publication. This declaration outlines the ethical conduct expected from all stakeholders participating in the article publication process within this journal, encompassing authors, the editor-in-chief, Editorial Board members, peer reviewers, and the publisher (Universitas Negeri Jakarta). This policy is grounded in the Committee on Publication Ethics' Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication
Publishing an article in the peer-reviewed EduPrime (Journal of Innovation in Primary Education) represents a fundamental component in establishing a coherent and credible body of knowledge. It serves as a direct indicator of both the authors' work quality and the supporting institutions' standards. Peer-reviewed publications uphold and exemplify the principles of scientific methodology. Therefore, it is crucial to establish agreed-upon ethical standards for all stakeholders in the publication process: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and professional societies.
As the publisher of EduPrime (Journal of Innovation in Primary Education), Universitas Negeri Jakarta takes its oversight responsibilities across all publishing stages with utmost seriousness and acknowledges its ethical and professional obligations. The institution is dedicated to ensuring that advertising, reprints, or other commercial revenues do not affect or influence editorial decision-making. Furthermore, the Department of Primary Education at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, together with the Editorial Board, will facilitate communication with other journals and publishers when beneficial and appropriate.
Publication decisions
The editor of EduPrime (Journal of Innovation in Primary Education) holds the responsibility for determining which submitted manuscripts warrant publication in the journal. Such decisions must consistently be driven by the validation of the research quality and its significance to both researchers and readers. Editorial decisions may be informed by the journal's editorial board policies and must comply with applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright violations, and plagiarism. In making these determinations, editors may consult with other editors or reviewers.
Fair play
Editors are required to judge manuscripts purely on their scholarly content without taking into account the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic heritage, citizenship status, or political philosophy.
Confidentiality
The editor and editorial personnel must maintain strict confidentiality concerning manuscript submissions, revealing details only to the corresponding author, reviewers (both actual and potential), editorial consultants, and the publisher when applicable.
Disclosure and conflicts of interest
Editors are prohibited from utilizing unpublished content from submitted manuscripts in their personal research without obtaining explicit written permission from the author.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
The peer review process aids editors in making informed publication decisions while simultaneously assisting authors in refining their work through editorial communications.
Promptness
Selected reviewers who determine themselves insufficiently qualified to evaluate the reported research or anticipate delays in completing a timely review must notify the editor promptly and recuse themselves from the review process.
Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review require treatment as confidential documents and must not be disclosed to or discussed with third parties except with explicit editor authorization.
Standards of Objectivity
Review assessments must maintain objectivity throughout. Personal criticisms directed at authors are inappropriate. Reviewers must present their evaluations clearly, supported by substantive justifications.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers bear responsibility for identifying relevant published literature omitted by authors. Claims regarding previously reported observations, derivations, or arguments must be accompanied by appropriate citations. Additionally, reviewers must notify editors of any substantial similarities or overlaps between the manuscript under consideration and other published works within their awareness.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Privileged information or concepts obtained through the peer review process must be maintained in confidence and not exploited for personal advantage. Reviewers must recuse themselves from evaluating manuscripts where conflicts of interest arise from competitive, collaborative, or other professional relationships or connections with authors, institutions, or organizations linked to the submissions.
Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors presenting original research must provide an accurate description of the conducted work alongside an objective analysis of its significance. Data must be represented precisely within the manuscript. Papers should include adequate detail and citations to enable replication by others. Fraudulent or deliberately inaccurate statements represent unethical conduct and are prohibited.
Data Access and Retention
Authors must supply raw data for editorial examination and should be willing to make such data publicly accessible (in accordance with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases) where feasible and must retain this data for a reasonable period following publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must guarantee that their work is entirely original, and when incorporating the work or language of others, proper citation or quotation must be provided.
Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not typically publish manuscripts describing substantially the same research in multiple journals or primary publications. Simultaneous submission of identical manuscripts to several journals constitutes unethical publishing practice and is prohibited.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Appropriate recognition of others' work is mandatory. Authors must cite publications that significantly influenced the nature of their reported research.
Authorship of the Paper
Authorship eligibility should be restricted to individuals who contributed significantly to the conception, design, implementation, or interpretation of the study. All substantial contributors should be designated as co-authors. Participants involved in specific meaningful aspects of the research should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author bears responsibility for ensuring appropriate inclusion and exclusion of co-authors, confirming that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and consented to its submission.
Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects
When research involves chemicals, procedures, or equipment with inherent unusual hazards, authors must explicitly identify these risks within the manuscript.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must reveal any financial or substantial conflicts of interest in their manuscript that could potentially influence results or interpretation. All financial support sources for the research must be disclosed.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
Upon discovering a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, authors are obligated to immediately inform the journal editor or publisher and collaborate in retracting or correcting the publication.
Template Compliance
All submissions must follow the EduPrime template format. Non-compliant manuscripts will be rejected.
Licensing
EduPrime promotes open access and the dissemination of academic research to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange. Authors are permitted to archive manuscript pre-prints, are urged to deposit accepted manuscript versions, and may distribute the publisher's version/PDF in repositories and on personal websites. This policy additionally addresses archiving permissions for published articles under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license, while recognizing that copyright remains with the authors.
Generative AI Policy
This policy has been developed and modified based on Elsevier's official guidelines regarding the application of generative artificial intelligence in academic publishing, accessible at Elsevier's Generative AI Policies for Journals. The objective of this policy is to guarantee ethical, transparent, and responsible implementation of generative AI tools and AI-supported technologies throughout the editorial and publication workflows of EduPrime. This policy governs all stakeholders participating in the publication process, encompassing authors, reviewers, and editors.
Witdrawal of Manuscripts
Authors are prohibited from withdrawing submitted manuscripts, as withdrawal wastes valuable resources including the substantial time editors and reviewers dedicate to processing submissions, along with the financial investment and effort expended by the publisher.
Should an author insist on withdrawing a manuscript during the peer review stage, a withdrawal penalty of 2,000,000 IDR per manuscript must be paid to the publisher. Furthermore, withdrawing a manuscript after acceptance by this journal due to acceptance elsewhere constitutes unethical behavior. For manuscripts withdrawn after acceptance for publication, authors will incur a penalty of 3,000,000 IDR per manuscript. Manuscript withdrawal is permitted only upon complete payment of the withdrawal penalty to the Publisher.
Authors who refuse to pay the penalty will be blacklisted from future publications in this journal, along with their affiliated institutions. Additionally, their previously published articles may be removed from our online platform.
Author Fees
This journal does not charge any fees to authors (free).
