Dismilaritas Kecanduan Pemakaian Media Sosial Generasi Y dan Generasi Z

AbstractThis study aims to determine there is/no differences in dependence on the use of social media for Generation Y and Generation Z also to see how the selected social media apps different. This study uses a comparative descriptive method with a quantitative approach, where the nature of this research design does not provide treatment or manipulation. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The samples in this study were Generation Y and Generation Z at the research site. Based on the results of tests carried out using the Mann Whitney U Test, the results were not significant differences between Generation Y and Generation Z in the use of social media with a Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.326. Generation Y and Z show a situation where there is no separation between themselves in the real world and the virtual world. The conclusion of this study is that there is no difference in the dependence on the use of social media of Generation Y and Generation Z. If you look at the type of social media chosen, there is a difference where Generation Y prefers social media WhatsApp and Facebook while Generation Z chooses WhatsApp and Instagram, other media choices are: such as e-commerce and video games.

Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada/tidak adanya perbedaan ketergantungan pengunaan media sosial Generasi Y dan Generasi Z juga untuk melihat bagaimana perbedaan aplikasi media sosial yang dipilih. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif komparatif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, dimana sifat desain penelitian ini tidak memberikan perlakuan atau manipulasi. Teknik sampling yang digunakan yaitu purposive sampling. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah Generasi Y dan Generasi Z di lokasi penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil uji yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan Mann Whitney U Test hasilnya tidak terdapat perbedaan yang siginifikan antara Generasi Y dan Generasi Z dalam penggunaan media sosial dengan nilai Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0.326. Pada generasi Y dan Z memperlihatkan keadaan dimana tidak ada pemisah diri mereka antara di dunia nyata dan dunia maya. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu tidak ada perbedaan ketergantungan penggunaan media sosial generasi Y dan Generasi Z. Jika dilihat jenis media sosial yang dipilih maka terdapat perbedaan dimana Generasi Y lebih memilih media sosial WhatsApp dan Facebook sedangkan Generasi Z memilih WhatsApp dan Instagram, pilihan media lainnya yaitu seperti e-commerce dan video games.
