Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pemahaman mahasiswa tentang lingkungan hidup dan kaitannya dengan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan pada mahasiswa di Fakultas Seni Rupa di Institut Kesenian Jakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, tes dan kuesioner. Data dikumpulkan dan dianalisis menggunakan teori-teori yang relevan untuk menafsirkan dan mendiskusikannya. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesadaran mahasiswa terhadap lingkungan dinilai baik. Hal ini dapat dilihat pada nilai tertinggi 23 dari 8 pertanyaan atau 76,67% tentang upaya pelestarian satwa liar. Siswa tidak hanya memahami ide-ide dalam kalimat tetapi juga menunjukan sikap kesadaran mereka terhadap aspek biosfir dalam alam dan manusia dengan mendapatkan nilai tertinggi dari 132, angka 1 dan 15 dalam sikap mereka menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memiliki pemahaman yang lebih baik. Siswa tidak hanya memahami pertanyaan tetapi juga memiliki kesadaran terhadap lingkungan.

Abstract
This research aims at describing the understanding of environment in relation to the students awareness towards the environment in the Faculty of Fine arts at the Arts Institute of Jakarta. Using the descriptive method, the researcher obtained the data from interview guide, tests and questionnaire. All the data are gathered and analyzed using relevant theories to interpret the discussions. The finding show that the understanding of Fine arts students IKJ in interpreting the environment awareness is good. It can be seen at the highest score 23 from 8 questions or 76,67% of the effort to preserve the wildlife. Students not only understand the ideas in sentences but also perform their awareness attitude towards the biospheric aspect in the natural diversity and mankind get the highest score of 132, the numbers 1 and 15 in their attitude indicates that students have got better understanding. Students not only understanding the question but also has awareness toward the environment.
