Abstract

In this community service activity, the development of educational aids will be carried out to assist students at MAN 2 Ciracas in learning materials related to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the process of increasing Earth's temperature due to the increased concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, where some of the heat is absorbed by CO2 gas, causing the temperature to rise. The increased concentration of CO2 in the air is caused by human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels, to meet various energy needs on Earth. Therefore, an understanding of the concept of global warming resulting from the greenhouse effect phenomenon should be introduced early to students in schools, in order to increase their awareness of environmental issues and the negative impacts that can occur if there is an imbalance in nature.

To provide a good understanding to students, it is necessary to have engaging teaching materials and visual aids that can demonstrate the occurrences in the environment directly. Therefore, in this community service activity, the development of educational aids will introduce students to the greenhouse effect phenomenon. The equipment used will be connected to gas and temperature sensors that monitor the atmospheric conditions in a controlled container with a specific concentration of CO2. Then, the experimental container will be exposed to light from a lamp, serving as a simulation of sunlight. With this light exposure, some of the heat emitted by the lamp will be absorbed by CO2 gas in the air, thus increasing the air temperature, which can be measured by sensors.
