Abstract

The utilization of renewable energy through Solar Power Plants (PLTS) has been implemented in Majalaya Village, Cianjur; however, the system has not been equipped with an adequate monitoring mechanism, resulting in frequent operational disturbances. This community service program aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system for PLTS to enhance reliability, efficiency, and community self-reliance in energy management. The implementation method consisted of socialization, training, installation of IoT devices (NodeMCU ESP32, current/voltage sensors), mentoring, and evaluation. The results indicated that the monitoring system was able to display real-time data on voltage, current, and power usage with 98% accuracy, while also providing early notifications in the event of anomalies. Residents of Majalaya Village were able to operate and utilize the monitoring data to regulate electrical loads, reduce unexpected outages, and expand the use of solar electricity to public facilities such as street lighting. This program also improved the community’s capacity in managing renewable energy technologies. In conclusion, the integration of IoT with PLTS, based on community participation, proved to be effective as a sustainable solution for clean energy empowerment in rural areas.
