Literary works are working that function as entertainment media, besides that there are also many literary works
that have educational value in the existing entertainment. This research method uses literary sociology to see the
social context of the novel and educational value to study aspects of character education. In this case, literary
works that are often used as a reference for education are novels, in this case the researcher uses the novel Burlian
by Tere Liye as a reference. This study looks at the phenomenon of the role of parents in children's character
education. Parents are the two most important people in a child's life, likewise in this novel, the role of the parents
of the main character of this novel makes Burlian the main character a person with a strong and quality character,
thanks to Father and Mother who never tire of educating Burlin through character education. The results of this
study indicate that the role of parents in children's character education is very important even though it must be
accompanied by education from teachers and environmental education.
