Abstract

This research aims to an enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in science lessons in grade IV Elementary School Mekarsari 01 through problem based learning approach. The research was conducted at the Elementary School Mekarsari 01 in the first semester of the school year 2011-2012 using research methods class action with reference to the model of Kemmis and Taggart. Classroom Action Research conducted through the stages of planning, action/implementation as well as observation, and reflection. The data was collected using the struments in the form of sheets, questionnairesmonitoring measures critical thingking, and field notes. The result of this study was an increase in students’ critical thinking skills in science lessons through a learning model IV class problem based learning. The implications of this research is the critical thinking skills students will be higher if the learning problem based learning by applying the maximum.
