Preserving Cultural Heritage Through Digital Innovation: Traditional Song Training for Students Using E-Flipbooks in Jatibarang Indramayu

Abstract

The preservation of regional songs as part of cultural identity faces challenges due to the dominance of popular culture and changes in the learning characteristics of the digital generation. This study aims to analyze the application of e-flipbooks as a digital learning medium to increase students' interest in regional songs while strengthening cultural literacy. The study was conducted from July 27–29, 2026, in Bulak Lor Village, Jatibarang District, Indramayu Regency, through observation, training, mentoring, regional song singing practice, and initial evaluation. The e-flipbooks integrate text, musical notation, audio, video tutorials, historical information, lyrical meanings, and interactive exercises into a single learning medium. The results showed a positive response from students and teachers, marked by increased enthusiasm, activeness, motivation, and interest in learning regional songs. This medium also helps students understand the musical character, vocal techniques, and cultural values ​​of songs in a more contextual way. The findings indicate that the integration of digital technology in arts and culture learning has the potential to be an innovative strategy to strengthen cultural literacy while supporting the sustainable preservation of Indonesia's cultural heritage.
