Ada dua teknologi packet voice yaitu Voice over IP (VoIP) dan Voice over ATM (VoATM).
Kata-kata kunci: Voice over IP (VoIP), Voice over ATM (VoATM), Bandwidth.
Abstract
Voice communication through packet data networks has now expanded to almost all corners of the world. This of course makes it easy for everyone to communicate with each other who are separated by means of telecommunications and the internet. Technological advances have led to packet switching technology which was originally used for data communication, now it can be applied to voice communications. Packet switching voice communication is also called packet voice technology. Thus this technology is very suitable for companies that have problems with large long distance / international telephone bills. There are two packet voice technologies, namely Voice over IP (VoIP) and Voice over ATM (VoATM). These two technologies are clearly different from their technological bases, one based on IP and the other based on ATM. By comparing the protocol aspects, signaling message flow, packet format, bandwidth consumption, it will be seen that the specific differences between the two technologies will be seen. The comparison of the two technologies is not intended to find which technology is better, but only to find out the specific differences so that it can be used as a reference for further refinement of the two technologies.
Keywords: Voice over IP (VoIP), Voice over ATM (VoATM), Bandwidth
