Pemanfaatan Hutan Pinus Sebagai Objek Wisata di Desa Karanggedang Kecamatan Sidareja Kabupaten Cilacap

Abstract

This study examines the utilization of pine forests as tourism objects in Karanggedang Village, Sidareja District, Cilacap Regency, an area characterized by highland topography and well-preserved natural potential. The pine forest in this village has grown naturally and has been developed by the local community for tourism activities, particularly through two main destinations: Kemit Forest Education and Forest Coffee. The aim of this research is to identify the forms of pine forest utilization as tourism attractions and to understand how the community manages the area within an ecotourism framework. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, using observations, interviews, documentation, and literature studies, followed by data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the pine forest possesses strong appeal due to its dense vegetation, cool temperature, and panoramic views of the surrounding lowlands. Kemit Forest Education functions as an educational and conservation-oriented tourism site, while Forest Coffee provides a culinary experience with the unique atmosphere of the pine forest, currently attracting many visitors. However, tourism management faces challenges such as declining visits after the COVID-19 pandemic and potential environmental degradation caused by increasing tourist activity. Overall, the utilization of pine forests in Karanggedang Village demonstrates that collaboration among the community, village authorities, and tourism managers plays an essential role in ensuring the ecological and economic sustainability of the area.
