  • Paper Size: A4.

  • Font: Lao UI, 10-point.

  • Spacing: 1.15 line spacing, with 3 pt spacing after each paragraph.

  • Page Numbers: All pages must be numbered sequentially.

  • Illustrations: All figures and tables must be cited within the main text (e.g., "as shown in Figure 1," "see Table 2").

3.2. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts based on original research should follow the standard IMRaD structure, organized in the following order:

  1. Title

  2. Author Information (Full Name, Affiliation, Email)

  3. Abstract (with Keywords)

  4. Introduction

  5. Methods

  6. Results and Discussion

  7. Conclusion

  8. Acknowledgments

  9. References

For conceptual or review papers, the "Results and Discussion" section can be replaced with topic-based headings that reflect the structure of the argument.

3.3. Section-Specific Guidelines

Title

  • Should be concise and informative, with a maximum of 15 words.

  • Must accurately reflect the manuscript's content.

  • Should be provided in both English and Indonesian.

  • Include keywords relevant for electronic searches.

Author's Name, Affiliation, and Address

  • Provide the full name of all authors without any titles (e.g., Dr., Prof.).

  • List the full institutional affiliation for each author, including the department, university/institution, city, postal code, and country.

  • Designate one author as the corresponding author and provide their active email address and phone number for communication.

Abstract

  • A single, comprehensive paragraph of no more than 200 words.

  • It should briefly cover the background, research objectives, methods, key findings, and main conclusions.

  • Conclude with 3-5 keywords for indexing purposes.

Introduction

  • Provide the background and rationale for the study, establishing the research problem.

  • Include a brief review of key literature to demonstrate the current state-of-the-art and identify the research gap.

  • Conclude with a clear statement of the research objectives and, if applicable, the hypotheses.

Methods

  • Describe the research design clearly and comprehensively (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method, R&D, experimental).

  • Provide enough detail to allow for the replication of the study.

  • Specify the location and time of the research only if it is critical to the study's outcome.

  • If standardized methods are used (e.g., ASTM, ISO, SNI), cite them appropriately.

Results and Discussion

  • Results: Present the findings of the data analysis clearly and logically. Use descriptive text, supported by tables and figures where appropriate. Do not interpret the results in this section.

  • Discussion: Interpret the results, explaining their significance and implications. Compare your findings with previous studies. Acknowledge any limitations of the research. Structure the discussion with a clear opening argument, supporting evidence from literature, and a concluding statement for each key point.

Conclusion

  • Provide a direct answer to the research objectives stated in the introduction.

  • Do not simply summarize the results. Instead, present a generalization of the findings and their broader implications.

  • This section should be concise, typically one or two paragraphs.

Acknowledgments

  • Acknowledge individuals or institutions that provided significant support (e.g., funding, research facilities, materials).

  • If the research was funded by a grant, provide the grant name and contract number.

  • Ensure all acknowledged parties have given their permission to be named.

3.4. References

  • Citation Style: All citations and references must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition style. We highly recommend using reference management software (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote) to ensure accuracy.

  • In-text Citations: All sources mentioned in the text must be included in the reference list, and vice versa.

  • Journal Requirement: Authors are encouraged to cite at least two articles published by SPATIAL within the last five years to engage with the ongoing discourse in the journal.

  • Author Names: For works with up to 20 authors, list all author names in the reference list. For works with 21 or more authors, list the first 19 authors, an ellipsis (...), and then the last author's name.

3.5. Formatting Numbers and Symbols

  • Decimals: Use a period (.) as the decimal marker (e.g., 0.24), not a comma.

  • Ranges: Use an en dash (–) for ranges in tables (e.g., 1974–1978). In the text, use "from...to..." (e.g., "from 1974 to 1978").

  • Units: Use the International System of Units (SI).

4. Guidelines for Illustrations (Tables and Figures)

Tables

  • Tables should be created using the table function in Microsoft Word, not as images.

  • Number tables sequentially (Table 1, Table 2, etc.).

  • Provide a brief, informative title above each table.

  • Use horizontal lines sparingly (at the top, bottom, and to separate headers from the body). Avoid vertical lines.

  • Place explanatory footnotes below the table. Use superscript letters (a, b, c) for indicators within the table.

  • Ensure each table is cited in the text.

Figures

  • Figures include graphs, charts, maps, and photographs.

  • Number figures sequentially (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.).

  • Provide a descriptive caption below each figure. The caption should be concise but allow the figure to be understood without reading the main text.

  • Figures must be of high resolution (minimum 300 DPI).

  • Ensure each figure is cited in the text.

5. Final Submission Checklist

  • The manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • The manuscript has been spell-checked and grammar-checked.

  • All authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.

  • The manuscript adheres to all formatting and structural guidelines listed above.

  • All illustrations (tables and figures) are of high quality and properly cited.

  • The reference list is complete and formatted correctly in APA 7th Edition style.
