Peer Review Process

Journal of Medical Mechatronic (JMM) employs a double-blind peer review system to ensure the integrity, quality, and fairness of the scholarly publishing process. Both the reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the review.

1. Initial Screening

Upon submission, the editorial office will conduct a preliminary check to ensure:

  • The manuscript fits the aim and scope of the journal.

  • It adheres to the IJMM submission format and ethical standards.

  • The manuscript is free from plagiarism using similarity detection software.

If the submission fails to meet these basic requirements, it will be desk rejected with constructive feedback (if applicable).

2. Assignment to Handling Editor

Once the manuscript passes the initial screening, it is assigned to a section editor or associate editor with relevant expertise. The handling editor is responsible for:

  • Evaluating the manuscript’s scientific merit.

  • Identifying qualified reviewers.

  • Overseeing the review process and final recommendation.

3. Double-Blind Review

  • The editor selects at least two independent reviewers with subject-matter expertise.

  • Reviewers assess the manuscript for:

    • Originality and novelty

    • Scientific accuracy

    • Technical and methodological soundness

    • Significance and clarity of results

    • Relevance to medical mechatronics

    • Quality of writing and structure

  • Reviewers are given approximately 3–4 weeks to complete their review.

4. Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers submit one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

Each review is accompanied by detailed comments to help the authors improve their manuscript.

5. Editorial Decision

The handling editor makes a decision based on:

  • The reviewer reports

  • The editor’s own assessment of the manuscript

Decisions are:

  • Accept without changes

  • Minor revision required

  • Major revision required

  • Reject

6. Revision and Resubmission

  • Authors are provided with reviewer comments and editorial feedback.

  • Authors must respond point-by-point and submit a revised manuscript along with a response letter detailing how comments were addressed.

  • Revised manuscripts may be sent for re-review if significant changes were requested.

7. Final Decision

After the revision is reviewed (if applicable), the editor makes a final decision. Accepted manuscripts move to copyediting and production.

8. Appeals

Authors who disagree with a rejection decision may submit an appeal via email. Appeals must be well-reasoned and supported by scientific arguments. The editor-in-chief will review the appeal and may seek additional opinions before making a final decision.

Important Notes:

  • The average review time is approximately 4–6 weeks, depending on reviewer availability.

  • Reviewers are expected to disclose any conflicts of interest and treat the manuscript as confidential.

  • JMM adheres to the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines in all review and publication matters.
