PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL CAHAYA CINTA PESANTREN KARANGAN IRA MADAN DAN SEMESTER PERTAMA DI MALORY TOWERS KARANGAN ENID BLYTON

Abstract

The study aims to find out the character education of the main characters in the two novels derived from the two countries based on the moral comparison of the characters. This research uses the theory of Kohlberg's moral development stage and the Nine Pillars of Character from Indonesia Heritage Foundation (IHF) and compared to using the theory of comparative literature study. The results of this study show there are differences and equations of character education. The equation is a stage of moral development that works still at the conventional level. The value of the characters obtained from these two novels is responsible, honest, helpful, creative, confident, kind, and peace-loving. The difference in character education in the novel Cahaya Cinta Pesantren has a higher orientation towards punishment than the novel Semester Pertama di Malory Towers. This is because education to instill discipline is emphasized while for the second novel emphasizes on adaptation and relationships between friends. This research can be applied in Class XII Semester II KD 3.8 Interpreting the author's view of life in novel that is read and 4.8 Presenting the result of interpretation to the author's view. Interpretation of the author's author is an interpretation of the moral value or character education presented by the author to the reader so that the reader can take lessons from the message conveyed so that the students expected as the object that read the novel can apply the author's message in everyday life.

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pendidikan karakter tokoh utama pada kedua novel yang berasal dari kedua negara berdasarkan perbandingan moral tokoh. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori tahap perkembangan moral Kohlberg dan Sembilan Pilar Karakter dari Indonesia Heritage Foundation (IHF) dan dibandingkan dengan menggunakan teori kajian sastra bandingan. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan terdapat perbedaan dan persamaan pendidikan karakter. Persamaan tersebut adalah tahap perkembangan moral yang bekerja masih berada pada tingkat konvensional. Nilai karakter yang didapatkan dari kedua novel ini adalah bertanggung jawab, kejujuran, suka menolong, kreatif, percaya diri, baik hati, dan cinta damai. Perbedaan pendidikan karakter dalam novel Cahaya Cinta Pesantren memiliki orientasi terhadap hukuman yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan novel Semester Pertama di Malory Towers. Hal tersebut dikarenakan pendidikan untuk menanamkan kedisiplinan sangat ditekankan sedangkan untuk novel kedua menekankan terhadap adaptasi dan hubungan antarteman. Penelitian ini dapat diimplikasikan pada materi Bahasa Indonesia Kelas XII Semester II KD 3.8 Menafsir pandangan pengarang terhadap kehidupan dalam novel yang dibaca dan 4.8 Menyajikan hasil interpretasi terhadap pandangan pengarang. Interpretasi terhadap pendangan pengarang tersebut adalah interpretasi terhadap nilai moral atau pendidikan karakter yang disampaikan oleh pengarang kepada pembaca sehingga pembaca dapat mengambil pelajaran dari pesan yang disampaikan sehingga diharapkan siswa sebagai objek yang membaca novel tersebut dapat menerapkan pesan pengarang tersebut dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
