Abstract
This research is motivated by the high number of students experiencing academic stress at SMAN 8 Mataram, particularly among eleventh-grade students. The high level of academic stress is influenced by the large number of assignments given by the school, a lack of knowledge about how to manage stress, and demands from parents. This study uses a quantitative research method. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of relaxation techniques through group counseling on students’ academic stress at SMAN academic. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 20 statement items covering five indicators of learning discipline, namely attendance, task completion, time management, compliance with school rules, and active participation in the learning process. The research sample consisted of 10 students selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using a t-test to determine the effect of relaxation techniques through group counseling on the reduction of students’ academic stress. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant effect of group counseling on reducing students’ academic stress levels. Therefore, group counseling services are effective in improving students’ learning discipline at SMAN.
