Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Authors submitting to the  Journal of Medical Mechatronic (JMM) are expected to submit manuscripts that are thoroughly proofread, polished, and prepared in accordance with the formatting and ethical standards outlined below. Manuscripts are accepted with the understanding that they are original or extended versions of previously published works (e.g., conference proceedings) and, if funded or sponsored, have received the necessary release for open publication.

1. Submission Requirements

To ensure a smooth review and publication process, authors must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear and grammatically correct English.

  2. Length: A minimum of 4 pages, prepared using the official IJMM article template.

  3. Template: Submissions must use the International Journal of Medical Mechatronic Article Template, available on the journal website.

  4. Reference Manager: Use a tool such as ZoteroMendeley, or EndNote for citation management and formatting, following the IEEE reference style. Manual citation is allowed but discouraged.

  5. References: A minimum of 10 references, with 100% from peer-reviewed journal articles, published within the last 5 years.

  6. Originality: Authors must explicitly state the research contribution in the Introduction.

2. Manuscript Structure

All submissions should follow the standardized structure outlined below:

A. Title

  • Clear, concise, and descriptive.

  • Avoid unnecessary terms such as “new” or “novel”.

  • Use relevant keywords and avoid special characters or mathematical symbols.

B. Abstract

  • A single paragraph of up to 250 words.

  • Must be self-contained: no citations, equations, abbreviations, or footnotes.

  • Should summarize the purpose, methods, key results, and conclusions.

  • Clearly highlight the novelty of the research.

  • Followed by 3–5 keywords that reflect the core content of the article.

C. Introduction

  • Provide a critical review of recent and relevant literature.

  • State the research problem and clearly define the contribution.

  • Justify the significance and originality of your study within the context of current research.

D. Methods

  • Provide detailed and reproducible descriptions of materials, processes, algorithms, or systems used.

  • Describe tools, instrumentation, simulations, and analysis methods precisely.

  • Equations should be inserted using the Equation Editor in MS Word and must be numbered sequentially.

E. Results and Discussion

  • Present findings with clarity, using tables and figures where appropriate.

  • Explain the implications of the results and compare them with existing studies.

  • Avoid redundancy by combining the results and discussion if needed for flow and readability.

F. Conclusion

  • Summarize major findings.

  • Emphasize implications, limitations, and possible directions for future research.

  • Avoid overstating results.

G. References

  • Follow IEEE citation style.

  • Use recent references (preferably published within the last 5 years).

  • Include at least 10 references, and ensure they are primarily from peer-reviewed journals.

  • Avoid citing non-scholarly or outdated works.

H. Acknowledgments (optional)

  • Recognize individuals or organizations that contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

  • Mention funding bodies and grant numbers if applicable.

3. Figures and Tables

  • Figures and tables should be embedded in the manuscript near the first mention.

  • All figures and tables must have clear titles and captions.

  • Use high-resolution images (minimum 300 dpi).

  • Number all figures and tables sequentially (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1).

4. Formatting Guidelines

  • Paper Size: A4

  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides

  • Font: Times New Roman, 11 pt

  • Spacing: Single or 1.15 line spacing

  • Section Headings: Use numbered bold headings (e.g., 1. Introduction)

  • Equations: Insert using Word’s Equation Editor and number them (e.g., (1), (2))

5. Ethical and Publication Standards

  • The submitted work must be original and must not be under review elsewhere.

  • All necessary ethical approvals (e.g., human or animal studies) must be clearly stated.

  • Plagiarism in any form will result in immediate rejection.

  • Authors must disclose conflicts of interest and sources of funding.

6. Submission and Review Process

  • Submit the manuscript through the official IJMM online submission system.

  • All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.

  • The typical review period is 4–6 weeks.

  • Authors are expected to address reviewer feedback thoroughly and resubmit within the given timeframe.

7. Copyright and Open Access

  • Upon acceptance, authors will be required to sign a copyright transfer agreement.

  • Open access options are available and subject to applicable Article Processing Charges (APCs).

  • Open access articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

8. Article Template

All authors must use the official JMM Article Template, which ensures compliance with formatting requirements. Manuscripts not using the template will be returned without review.

Download the template from the journal website before submission.
