Leveraging Sociotechnical Systems for Sustainable Business Education: Pathways to Youth Development

In today’s rapidly evolving world, sustainable development requires education systems that adapt to future-oriented strategies for youth development. Sociotechnical systems where human interaction and technological combine to broadening young researchers and preparing them to effectively manage the challenges of today’s world. These support systems equip young researcher to adapt to the multifaceted realities of modern society while aligning with the Sustainable Development by promoting inclusive for young researchers’ horizons and sustainable economic growth. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design involving 350 business educators from 17 universities across the West African region. Data were collected using the Sociotechnical systems for sustainable business Education & Youth Development Questionnaire (SSSBEYDQ). The instrument was conducted online through Google Forms, attaining a reliability index of 0.83 which facilitated data collection and responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and linear regression analysis at a 0.05 level of significance. Respondents widely acknowledged that sociotechnical systems play a significant role in developing students' critical thinking, digital fluency, and innovative capacity. This suggests that sociotechnical integration is not only relevant but crucial in preparing future-ready graduates who can thrive in dynamic socio-economic environments. The study demonstrates that leveraging sociotechnical systems in business education is crucial for equipping young researchers with future-oriented skills and sustainability. To achieve this, stakeholders prioritize digital infrastructure, professional development and equitable access policies. Aligning business education with sustainable development goals not only necessity but a strategic pathway to building a resilient and inclusive global economy.
Abstrak
Dalam dunia yang terus berkembang pesat saat ini, pembangunan berkelanjutan menuntut sistem pendidikan yang mampu beradaptasi dengan strategi berorientasi masa depan untuk pengembangan pemuda. Sistem sosioteknis, yakni integrasi antara interaksi manusia dan teknologi, berperan penting dalam memperluas cakrawala peneliti muda dan mempersiapkan mereka menghadapi tantangan zaman. Sistem ini membekali peneliti muda dengan kemampuan beradaptasi terhadap kompleksitas realitas masyarakat modern, sekaligus mendukung Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan melalui pendidikan inklusif dan pertumbuhan ekonomi berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain survei deskriptif dengan melibatkan 350 pendidik bisnis dari 17 universitas di kawasan Afrika Barat. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner Sociotechnical System for Sustainable Business Education & Youth Development Questionnaire (SSSBEYDQ) yang disebarkan secara daring melalui Google Form, dengan indeks reliabilitas sebesar 0,83. Analisis data penelitian dilakukan menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji-t, dan ANOVA dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden mengakui pentingnya sistem sosioteknis dalam mendukung peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis, keterampilan digital, dan inovasi pada mahasiswa. Integrasi sistem sosioteknis terbukti tidak hanya relevan tetapi juga krusial dalam mempersiapkan lulusan menghadapi dinamika dan tantangan di kancah sosial ekonomi global. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa penerapan pendekatan sosioteknis dalam pendidikan bisnis berperan penting dalam mengembangkan keterampilan masa depan bagi peneliti muda sekaligus memperkuat upaya keberlanjutan. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, para pemangku kepentingan harus mengutamakan penguatan infrastruktur digital, peningkatan kapasitas profesional, dan penerapan kebijakan yang menjamin akses setara. Menyesuaikan kurikulum pendidikan bisnis dengan prinsip pembangunan berkelanjutan bukan sekadar menjawab tantangan zaman, tetapi juga langkah strategis dalam menciptakan ekonomi global yang inklusif dan kuat.
