Generative AI Policy

Jurnal Riset Manajemen Sains Indonesia (JRMSI) recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools may support certain activities in research and academic writing. However, the use of such tools must be transparent, responsible, ethical, and consistent with academic integrity.

Use of Generative AI by Authors

Authors may use generative AI tools only to assist with language improvement, grammar correction, translation, readability, idea organization, or other limited technical support. Generative AI tools must not replace the authors’ intellectual contribution, critical analysis, interpretation of findings, or responsibility for the manuscript.

Generative AI tools, including large language models and AI-assisted technologies, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the submitted work, declare conflicts of interest, transfer copyright, or respond to questions regarding research integrity.

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  1. The accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript;

  2. Verifying all AI-generated or AI-assisted information;

  3. Ensuring that references and citations are accurate and genuinely exist;

  4. Preventing plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, bias, and misleading information;

  5. Protecting confidential, personal, proprietary, and copyrighted information; and

  6. Ensuring compliance with research ethics and applicable regulations.

Authors who use generative AI tools in preparing a manuscript must disclose their use. The disclosure should identify the tool used, its purpose, and the part of the research or manuscript in which it was applied. This statement should be included in the Acknowledgements or a separate section titled Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process.

Example of disclosure:

During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [name and version of the AI tool] for [specific purpose]. The author(s) reviewed and edited the resulting content and take full responsibility for the content of the published article.

Routine tools used solely for spelling, grammar, formatting, or reference management do not need to be disclosed.

The use of generative AI to fabricate or manipulate data, generate false citations, produce misleading images, conceal plagiarism, or misrepresent authorship is strictly prohibited. Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI may result in manuscript rejection, retraction of a published article, or other actions in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy.

Use of Generative AI by Reviewers

JRMSI applies a single-blind peer-review process, in which reviewers know the authors’ identities, while reviewers’ identities remain anonymous to the authors.

Reviewers must not upload submitted manuscripts, supplementary materials, or any confidential information into publicly accessible generative AI tools. Doing so may violate confidentiality, privacy, and intellectual property requirements.

Generative AI tools must not replace reviewers’ independent judgment and critical evaluation. Reviewers remain fully responsible for the accuracy, fairness, integrity, and content of their review reports. Any substantial use of AI-assisted tools during the review process must be disclosed to the editor.

Use of Generative AI by Editors

Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not upload manuscripts or related confidential information into publicly accessible generative AI tools. Generative AI must not be used to replace editorial judgment or make final decisions regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection.

All editorial decisions remain the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief and the authorized editorial team of JRMSI.
