JRMSI – Jurnal Riset Manajemen Sains Indonesia is committed to ensuring transparency, fairness, accountability, and integrity in the attribution of authorship and scholarly contributions. Authorship must accurately reflect the intellectual contributions and responsibilities of individuals involved in the research and preparation of a manuscript. The journal's authorship and contributorship policies are guided by the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). All authors must meet the journal's authorship requirements, approve the final manuscript, and accept responsibility for the integrity of their scholarly contributions. 1. Criteria for Authorship JRMSI adopts the following four criteria for determining authorship, based on the ICMJE recommendations. All four criteria must be fulfilled by every individual listed as an author. Criterion 1 – Substantial Intellectual Contribution: Making a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data. Criterion 2 – Manuscript Preparation or Critical Revision: Participating in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing and revising its important intellectual content. Criterion 3 – Final Approval: Reviewing and approving the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication. Criterion 4 – Accountability: Agreeing to be accountable for the work and ensuring that questions concerning its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved. Individuals who meet all four criteria should be identified as authors. Contributors who do not meet all four criteria should be appropriately acknowledged for their contributions. 2. Authorship Contributions and Responsibilities All listed authors must have made genuine scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. JRMSI requires authors to provide a clear description of their individual contributions. Authors are encouraged to use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to describe their involvement in the research. Recognized contribution categories include: • Conceptualization: Development of research ideas, objectives, and conceptual frameworks. • Methodology: Development or design of research methods and procedures. • Formal Analysis: Application of statistical, mathematical, computational, or other analytical techniques. • Investigation: Conducting research activities, including data collection and experimentation. • Data Curation: Organization, management, and preparation of research data. • Writing – Original Draft: Preparation and drafting of the initial manuscript. • Writing – Review and Editing: Critical revision, editing, and improvement of the manuscript. • Supervision: Oversight and leadership of research activities. • Validation: Verification of research results, procedures, and reproducibility. • Visualization: Preparation and presentation of research data through tables, figures, or other visual materials. • Project Administration: Coordination and management of research activities. • Funding Acquisition: Securing financial support for the research. • Resources: Provision of research materials, facilities, or other resources. • Software: Development or implementation of software, computer programs, or analytical tools used in the research. These contribution categories are intended to improve transparency and do not independently determine eligibility for authorship. Every author must still satisfy the four authorship criteria. 3. Corresponding Author Responsibilities The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the JRMSI Editorial Office throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author is responsible for: • Ensuring that all listed authors meet the established authorship criteria. • Confirming that no eligible contributors have been improperly excluded from the author list. • Obtaining approval from all co-authors before submitting the manuscript. • Ensuring that all authors agree with the authorship order and individual contribution statements. • Communicating editorial decisions, reviewer comments, and revision requests to all co-authors. • Ensuring that the required declarations concerning funding, conflicts of interest, research ethics, and other publication requirements are complete and accurate. • Coordinating responses to editorial inquiries and post-publication concerns when necessary. • Ensuring that all co-authors review and approve the final version of the manuscript before publication. The corresponding author does not assume exclusive responsibility for the entire research. All co-authors share responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the published work. 4. Authorship Order and Acknowledgments The order of authors must be determined through mutual agreement among all authors before manuscript submission. JRMSI does not determine authorship order based solely on academic rank, institutional position, professional seniority, or administrative authority. The first author is generally expected to have made a substantial contribution to the research and manuscript preparation. However, the final authorship order must be agreed upon collectively by the authors. Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet the established authorship criteria should be recognized in the Acknowledgments section, where appropriate. Activities that do not independently justify authorship include: • Providing financial support or research funding without qualifying scholarly contributions. • Offering general administrative or institutional assistance. • Providing routine technical support or language editing. • Holding a supervisory position without sufficient intellectual involvement in the research. • Providing research facilities or resources without additional qualifying contributions. The corresponding author should obtain permission from individuals named in the Acknowledgments section, where appropriate. 5. Unacceptable Authorship Practices JRMSI does not tolerate practices that misrepresent scholarly contributions or undermine authorship integrity. Unacceptable authorship practices include: a. Gift Authorship: Including individuals as authors primarily because of personal relationships, academic rank, or institutional authority rather than qualifying scholarly contributions. b. Guest Authorship: Adding individuals who have not fulfilled the authorship criteria to increase the perceived credibility or publication prospects of a manuscript. c. Ghost Authorship: Excluding individuals who have made qualifying scholarly contributions or concealing substantial contributions from individuals who should be appropriately acknowledged. d. Purchased Authorship: Buying, selling, or transferring authorship positions without genuine scholarly contributions. e. Unauthorized Authorship: Listing an individual as an author without their knowledge or consent. f. Misrepresentation of Contributions: Providing false or misleading information regarding the intellectual contributions of individual authors. Manuscripts involving suspected authorship misconduct may be subject to further editorial assessment in accordance with the journal's Research Misconduct Policy and relevant COPE guidance. 6. Changes in Authorship Any proposed change to authorship after initial manuscript submission must be justified and approved by the JRMSI Editorial Office. Changes may include adding or removing an author, modifying the authorship order, or changing the corresponding author. Requests for authorship changes must include: • A written explanation describing the reasons for the proposed change. • An updated authorship and contribution statement, where applicable. • Written agreement from all existing authors and any author being added or removed. • Supporting documentation requested by the editorial team, if necessary. The editorial team will assess the request according to the journal's authorship criteria and publication ethics policies. The review or publication process may be suspended until substantial authorship concerns have been satisfactorily resolved. After publication, justified authorship changes may require a formal correction notice linked to the original article to maintain transparency in the scholarly record. JRMSI reserves the right to reject authorship changes that are unsupported, inconsistent with the authorship criteria, or associated with suspected publication misconduct. 7. Authorship Disputes JRMSI encourages authors to resolve authorship disagreements through transparent communication and mutual agreement before manuscript submission. When an authorship dispute arises, the corresponding author should promptly inform the Editorial Office and provide relevant documentation. The editorial team may request written statements, author contribution records, or other supporting information from the individuals involved. When a dispute cannot be resolved through the editorial process, JRMSI may request the involvement of the authors' affiliated institutions or other competent authorities. The journal may suspend manuscript processing or publication until the dispute has been appropriately addressed. JRMSI is responsible for ensuring the integrity of its editorial and publication processes but does not ordinarily adjudicate disputes regarding the ownership of research contributions that require formal institutional investigation. All cases will be handled fairly, objectively, and confidentially where appropriate, with reference to relevant COPE guidance. 8. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship Artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including generative AI systems, large language models, and automated content-generation applications, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to JRMSI. Authorship requires intellectual responsibility, accountability, and the ability to approve and defend the integrity of scholarly work, responsibilities that cannot be assigned to AI systems. Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, validity, and ethical integrity of their manuscripts, including any content developed with AI assistance. Authors must disclose the use of AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation or research activities where applicable, in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and AI disclosure requirements. The use of AI tools must not result in fabricated references, manipulated research data, plagiarism, or misleading representations of research findings. 9. Authorship Declaration By submitting a manuscript to JRMSI, all authors are required to confirm that: • Every listed author meets the journal's authorship criteria. • All individuals who qualify for authorship have been appropriately included. • All authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript. • All authors agree with the order of authorship and their declared contributions. • The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal. • All authors accept responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their scholarly contributions. • Any potential conflicts of interest and relevant funding sources have been appropriately disclosed. • The research complies with applicable ethical requirements and the journal's publication policies. The Editorial Office may request an authorship declaration or additional supporting documentation when necessary to verify compliance with these requirements. 10. Ethical Guidelines and References JRMSI refers to internationally recognized standards and guidelines for responsible authorship and contributorship.
