Post Publication Discussions

1. Policy Statement

JRMSI – Jurnal Riset Manajemen Sains Indonesia is committed to promoting transparency, academic integrity, and continuous scholarly dialogue through post-publication discussions.
JRMSI recognizes that scholarly evaluation does not end with publication. Constructive academic discussions, critical assessments, and evidence-based comments on published articles are essential for improving research quality, encouraging scientific advancement, and maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.
In accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), JRMSI provides opportunities for readers, researchers, and academic professionals to raise questions, provide scholarly comments, and discuss the findings of articles published in the journal.

2. Scope of Post-Publication Discussions

Post-publication discussions may address various aspects of previously published articles, including:

  • Research Methodology: Questions or constructive criticism regarding research design, sampling procedures, data collection, measurement instruments, and analytical methods.
  • Research Findings: Alternative interpretations, supporting evidence, or concerns regarding the validity and reliability of published findings.
  • Theoretical Contributions: Discussions concerning theoretical frameworks, conceptual development, and the implications of research findings for management science.
  • Data Accuracy and Transparency: Questions concerning the accuracy, consistency, and interpretation of reported data and statistical analyses.
  • Research Implications: Additional perspectives on the theoretical, managerial, and practical implications of published research.
  • Scholarly References: Evidence-based comments regarding the accuracy, relevance, or completeness of cited literature.

All discussions must be academically relevant, evidence-based, respectful, and focused on the scholarly content of the published article.

3. Submission of Post-Publication Comments

Readers, researchers, and other interested parties may submit post-publication comments or scholarly correspondence directly to the JRMSI Editorial Office.
Submissions should include:

  1. The title, author(s), publication year, and DOI or URL of the article being discussed.
  2. A clear explanation of the comment, question, or concern.
  3. Supporting arguments, relevant academic references, or verifiable evidence.

4. Editorial Evaluation and Response

All post-publication comments will be evaluated by the JRMSI Editorial Team to determine their academic relevance, validity, and compliance with publication ethics.
The editorial evaluation process includes:

  1. Initial Assessment: The Editor-in-Chief or designated editor reviews the submitted comments to assess their relevance, clarity, and supporting evidence.
  2. Author Notification: When appropriate, the corresponding author of the published article is informed of the discussion and invited to provide a response or clarification.
  3. Scientific Evaluation: The editorial team may consult independent experts or peer reviewers when additional scientific assessment is necessary.
  4. Editorial Decision: The Editor-in-Chief determines whether the comments and responses should be published, whether further clarification is required, or whether another editorial action is appropriate.
  5. Documentation: Relevant correspondence, editorial assessments, and decisions are documented to ensure transparency and accountability.

JRMSI is committed to ensuring that all parties are treated fairly and that academic disagreements are addressed through objective and constructive scholarly evaluation.

5. Publication of Discussions and Author Responses

When post-publication comments contribute significantly to academic discourse, JRMSI may publish them as a Letter to the Editor, Scholarly Commentary, or Author Response, subject to editorial approval.
The original authors will be given an opportunity to respond to substantial scholarly criticism concerning their published work.
Accepted discussions and responses may be published on the journal's official website and linked to the original article. Where applicable, they may receive separate publication metadata and Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to support transparency, accessibility, and scholarly citation.
Publication of post-publication discussions remains subject to the journal's editorial standards and applicable publication policies.

6. Corrections, Retractions, and Research Misconduct

If post-publication discussions reveal substantive errors, unreliable findings, or potential violations of publication ethics, JRMSI will assess the concerns in accordance with its applicable editorial policies and COPE guidance.

Depending on the nature and severity of the concerns, editorial actions may include:

  • Correction: Publishing a formal correction when an error requires amendment but does not invalidate the principal findings.
  • Expression of Concern: Issuing an editorial notice when serious questions regarding a publication remain unresolved and readers should be informed.
  • Retraction: Retracting an article when its findings or conclusions are determined to be unreliable or when serious publication ethics violations justify retraction.
  • Further Investigation: Referring allegations of research misconduct to the appropriate editorial or institutional authorities when necessary.

Allegations involving plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or other forms of research misconduct will be handled under the journal's research misconduct procedures rather than through public scholarly debate alone.

7. Ethical Standards and Editorial Independence

JRMSI encourages constructive academic discussions while maintaining the principles of objectivity, fairness, confidentiality, and editorial independence.
Comments containing personal attacks, discriminatory language, defamatory statements, unsupported allegations, or irrelevant material will not be considered for publication.
Editorial decisions regarding post-publication discussions are based on academic merit, supporting evidence, and the journal's publication policies, without improper influence from personal, institutional, commercial, or financial interests.

8. Commitment to Scholarly Integrity

JRMSI believes that post-publication discussions are an essential component of responsible scholarly publishing and continuous scientific improvement.
By facilitating evidence-based academic dialogue, JRMSI seeks to strengthen research reliability, promote constructive engagement among scholars, and maintain public confidence in published scientific knowledge.
