Microlearning is a technology-mediated learning approach in which students are formally or informally engaged in short-term learning tasks. These tasks are built using well-planned microcontent and micromedia platform to enhance microknowledge, embodying the microlearning’s peculiarity. Microlearning is considered as a relevant approach in today’s learning as it suits with learners’ characteristic such as goal oriented, self-directed, and technologically savvy. This paper explores the grounded theories of microlearning, how microlearning is brought into second language acquisition, and research informed by microlearning in general educational context and second language acquisition.
