Abstract

Toxic/abusive relationship cases continue to occur in young people in Indonesia. Especially in relationships in the private sphere between men and women or usually called ‘pacaran’. Based on data received since 2018 until now, this case continues to be a trending topic on Twitter. A questionnaire randomly distributed in Greater Jakarta, it was found that the survivors of toxic/abusive relationships experienced verbal and physical violence, thus disturbing their mental and physical health. It was also found that they did not have the courage to get out of this problem, requiring intervention from their close friends in making a decision to get out of this problem. This is the basis of the author’s interest in conducting research, it is hoped that the results can influence the way of thinking of other young people to avoid toxic/abusive relationships. The research method used art based-research, so it will help the author to see the possibility to explore the creative side and reach a wider audience. Through the art based-research method, found that audiovisual media approach can be used to help the teenager to avoid toxic/abusive relationships.
