Abstract

The Sales Area Manager Bandung Office, located in Bandung City, is one of the work locations covering the Bandung area and its surroundings. The Sales Area Office was constructed in the 1990s and originally functioned as a TNI office. In 2017, the office was transferred to PT. XYZ. However, based on field observations, the fire protection system installed in the building consists only of Light Fire Extinguishers. SNI and NFPA standards state that buildings with an area of more than 500 m² should be equipped with a hydrant pillar installation, whereas the sales office, which has an area of 1,827 m², only has active fire protection in the form of Light Fire Extinguishers or APAR.

Therefore, this report contains the planning and analysis of a pillar hydrant system and the calculation of water requirements for fire extinguishing using hydrants at the Sales Area Manager Office Building in Bandung City. The planning refers to the NFPA 14 standard. This research was conducted through observations at the Marketing Office of PT. XYZ, located in Bandung City, during March–April 2022. The observation data were processed at the Fire Safety Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Jakarta State University, from June to August 2022.

Based on the design results, the required capacity of the extinguishing medium to control a fire in the Sales Area Manager Building is 85,171 liters of water. Referring to NFPA 14, the Sales Area Manager Building requires five hydrant pillars to protect the building from fire hazards. The pump power required for the hydrant pillar installation is 12.54 hp. The hydrant piping system is installed above ground and around the building.
