Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of illocutionary speech acts found in the Ruang 28 podcast, as well as to explain their implicit implications for discussion learning at the junior high school level. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data was taken from two podcast episodes through a listening-note technique and explained using Searle's theory. The results show that from 600 dialogue excerpts, 659 speech acts were found, with details: assertive (62.22%), directive (24.73%), expressive (11.23%), declarative (1.21%), and commissive (0.61%). Assertive speech acts are the dominant form, especially in the functions of stating and informing. This indicates that most of the speech contains opinions or information. These results can be implied in Indonesian language learning, especially in discussion text material at the junior high school level.
