Pembelajaran Bahasa Sunda dalam Mempertahankan Budaya Lokal
(Studi Kasus: Kelas IX di SMPN 1 Gunungsindur, Kabupaten Bogor, Jawa Barat)

This study aims to describe the background and structure of Sundanese language learning in the local content curriculum in maintaining local culture. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach, with a case study method. Research data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The subjects of this research were ten informants, including the principal, deputy curriculum, subject teachers, students, and academics. The location of this research was SMPN 1 Gunungsindur, and this research began from May 2023 to August 2023. The results of this study illustrate that Sundanese language learning at SMPN 1 Gunungsindur is intended to maintain regional culture so that it does not become extinct. This Sundanese local content learning emphasizes the development of competence in language knowledge and skills as well as the ability to appreciate literary works. Students interpret local content as an effort to maintain culture through learning activities and the use of local language in interacting as a symbol of identity. Teachers utilize cultural symbols in learning to help students interpret culture through language as a form of internalization process of cultural values so that individuals can understand themselves and the surrounding world. This study also found that there are differences in the language used by students due to differences in socio-cultural contexts.
