Pendampingan Psikososial Lansia Melalui Sharing Session Berbasis Teori Erikson dan Havighurst

Abstract

The ageing population phenomenon in Indonesia has led to an increase in the number of elderly individuals, particularly those living in nursing homes who face psychological challenges such as loneliness, lack of social interaction, and depressive symptoms. This community service program aimed to provide psychosocial assistance through sharing sessions based on Erikson's theory of ego integrity versus despair and Havighurst's Activity Theory. The program was conducted at Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Budi Sejahtera, South Kalimantan on May 12, 2026, involving 24 elderly participants divided into 5 small groups, each facilitated by one to two students. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews and observations during the sharing sessions. The findings revealed that some elderly participants demonstrated ego integrity characterized by gratitude, acceptance of life, and the ability to share meaningful life experiences, while others showed signs of despair such as passivity, sadness, and rejection

of their current condition. Consistent with Havighurst's theory, participants adapted to physical decline by maintaining spiritual routines and social activities. Non-verbal observations also provided critical insights into the emotional states of the elderly. In conclusion, the sharing session served as a means of psychosocial intervention with the potential to enhance the psychological well-being of the elderly, facilitating life reflection, reducing loneliness, and strengthening ego integrity. This program highlights the importance of social support and structured psychosocial activities in nursing home settings.
