Abstract

New student adaptation is a crucial process that requires fast and integrated access to campus information. However, the disparate distribution of information through various communication channels often makes it difficult for new students to obtain academic data efficiently. This study aims to design a prototype of the Maba Assistant Website as an integrated information medium for new students at Bangka Belitung University. The research method uses an Agile approach with the stages of needs analysis, system design modeling using Unified Modeling Language (UML), preparation of Software Requirement Specification (SRS) documents, and User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design using Figma. Needs data was obtained through interviews and supporting literature studies. The design results show that the Maba Assistant Website is able to integrate various key features such as class schedules, digital location maps, frequently asked questions (FAQs), chatbots, and feedback forms in one easy-to-use platform. Testing showed that 25% of users agreed and 75% of users strongly agreed that overall this prototype was good and the system design interface met the aspects of functionality and usability. The conclusion of this study states that the Maba Assistant prototype can be an effective solution in helping new students access campus information efficiently, and has the potential to be developed into a functional web-based academic information system in the future.
