Abstract

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi triptamin sebagai antioksidan untuk gasoline serta pengaruhnya terhadap sifat fisik gasoline. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pengujian aktivitas antioksidan melalui uji periode induksi dan massa gum, sedangkan untuk sifat fisik yang diujikan diantaranya densitas, viskositas kinematik dan warna. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan nilai induksi dan kadar gum setelah penambahan triptamin sebanyak 500 ppm. Nilai induksi yang diperoleh yaitu 1300 menit dan nilai gum sebesar 56,2667 g/50 mL. Hasil uji densitas dan viskositas gasoline diperoleh penurunan nilai dibandingkan tanpa antioksidan. Pada nilai warna gasoline terjadi penurunan nilai setelah ditambahkan triptamin sebesar 16.6, sedangkan tanpa antioksidan diperoleh 20,1. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh diketahui bahwa triptamin dapat digunakan sebagai zat antioksidan untuk gasoline.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the potential of tryptamine as an antioxidant for gasoline and its effect on gasoline physical properties. The method used this research is the antioxidant activity of tryptamine tested by induction period and mass of gum, while physical properties tested were density, kinematic viscosity, and color. The results of the induction value and gum level test showed an increase after the addition of tryptamine as much as 500 ppm. Induction and gum value obtained is 1300 minutes, and 56.2667 g/50 mL. The results of the density and gasoline viscosity test obtained value decrease compared without antioxidants. The value of gasoline color decline in value after added by tryptamine as much as 16.6, while without antioxidants obtained as much as 20.1. Based on the data in this research, it can be concluded that tryptamine can be act as an antioxidant for gasoline.
