Abstract

Achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 on access to clean water and adequate sanitation requires effective wastewater management, including from healthcare facilities such as hospitals. Hospitals have the potential to generate wastewater containing organic and inorganic contaminants, as well as pathogenic microorganisms, which can pose a risk of environmental pollution if not properly treated. This study aims to evaluate the quality of wastewater produced by a hospital in Central Lampung Regency based on the quality standard parameters stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number 68 of 2016. The parameters tested include pH, Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD₅), fatty oil, and total ammonia. The test results showed that the pH value was 6.98; TSS 3.00 mg/L; COD 43.28 mg O₂/L; BOD₅ 1.22 mg/L; fatty oil 0.3 mg/L; and total ammonia 0.191 mg/L. All parameters were well below the maximum quality limits for hospital wastewater. These findings indicate that the hospital's wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is functioning correctly, resulting in safe wastewater and no potential environmental pollution. This evaluation supports efforts to meet SDG indicator 6.3, which focuses on improving wastewater treatment and reducing water pollution
