Author Guidelines

Jurnal Sains Geografi is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal with special interest in geography, covering a wide range of subjects including human-environment interactions, geomorphology, river valleys, disaster-related studies, and urban/rural/regional studies. The journal seeks to advance understanding in various sub-disciplines of geography and promote interdisciplinary research.

The article consists of:

  • Title: specific and effective, no more than 30 words, capital letter at the beginning of the title, except for words that require capital letters.
  • Author’s identity: Author’s full names (without degree), affiliation/institution address, (including name, city, and country of institution), and correspondence author’s email must be written clearly.
  • Abstract: it is written in a paragraph which consists of 100 - 250 words maximum. Abstract should be informative and completely self-explanatory, provide a clear statement of the problem, the proposed approach or solution, and point out major findings and conclusions
  • The keywords must be included on the same page as abstract. It consists of 3-5 words which are chosen genuinely so that it reflects the concept of article.
  • Introduction: This section outlines the background. The research problem should be elaborated with a literature review and previous publications. Authors must cite previously published articles from relevant journals. This section also outlines the research objectives.
  • Figure Caption. Example writing “Figure 1.” which is the label must be written in capital at the beginning of a word and bold Times New Roman size 10. If the image has a lot of parts, you can use the label (a), (b), and so on. The caption is placed at the bottom center of the figure.
  • Table Caption. Example writing “Table 1.” is the label description table bold Times New Roman size 10, and capital at the beginning of a word. Description flat table placed above the middle of the table.
  • Equations should be placed in the middle with his right equation number (flush right). Here are tips on writing an equation in accordance with the template:
    • Copy, paste, and edit examples of Equation (1) in templates (very are suggested).
    • Manually enter the equation
    • Edit the number of equations.
  • Methods: This section is used for articles based on research findings. The methods section for research manuscripts outlines the steps or procedures involved in data collection, data processing, and data analysis techniques used in the research. Methods can also be the methods used to address the issues raised in the article. Use tables or flowcharts to support the description.
  • Results: This section contains the research results. The results can be presented in the form of text, tables, figures, and maps, along with interpretations related to the written results. Figures and maps are kept as simple as possible for easy understanding. Figures, maps, and titles are given source figures with sequential numbering. Tables are given titles above and sequential numbering. All figures, maps, and tables must be cited in body text. Maps should be created in either color or grayscale format, but the differences between each value/object are clearly visible. Simplified map layout designs can be included in the text to reduce map content. Please follow best practices when creating map layouts.
  • Discussion: This section presents research results which can be conducted in a separate sub-section or integrated into the section. The author must discuss the findings of the research with relevant literature.
  • Conclusion: A conclusion should be included throughout the research findings. The conclusion should be written in simple, concise sentences for easy comprehension by the reader. It should also include new insights, perspectives, and insights based on the research findings.
  • Acknowledgements (Optional): Should only be addressed to contributing parties, such as sponsors, materials, and research facilities. If the research work is based on a research grant from a sponsor, also include the contract number.
  • References: The bibliography follows the American Psychological Association (APA) system and year, arranged alphabetically by author's last name. References is written before “.” dot. Authors can use bibliographic software to generate citations, such as EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero (Zotero.org), etc. The reference must include 80 % of primary sources in the past 10 years.

  1. Write down your paper using Jurnal Sains Geografi Manuscript Template.
  2. Make sure you save as Microsoft Word 1997-2003.
  3. If you have size problem, you can save as “.docx”.

Manuscript Assessment Process

Any accepted manuscript will be reviewed by at least two reviewers, plus editorial comments. The author is required to revise the manuscript according to reviewer comments and editors.   • Any accepted manuscript will be reviewed by at least one reviewer, plus editorial comments. To making a quickly review and publishing process, please following the Focus and Scope of Jurnal Sains Geografi. The article will be rejected if the scope does not match with Jurnal Sains Geografi scope.
