The city of Samarinda is one of the cities in Indonesia that is highly vulnerable to various types of natural disasters, one of which is erosion. The phenomenon of erosion in Samarinda City is spread across a number of locations, and one of the most affected areas is Air Hitam Village. Erosion in this area has a significant negative impact on the environment, such as ecosystem damage, increased sedimentation in river flows, and changes in land morphology that have the potential to worsen local geographical conditions. This study aims to identify the level of erosion potential in Air Hitam Village, Samarinda City, and analyze the relevance of the study results as a source of disaster literacy in geography learning. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative, with a focus on describing the conditions of the area based on facts and phenomena observed in the field. The research data was obtained through direct observation, which was then reinforced with secondary data from the Samarinda City Statistics Agency (BPS). Data analysis was conducted using triangulation methods to ensure the validity and accuracy of the findings. The results of the study show that Air Hitam Village has a high potential for erosion due to a combination of natural factors (such as rainfall, soil type, and topography) and anthropogenic factors (such as land clearing activities and poor conservation practices). Furthermore, the results of this study are considered highly relevant as a source of disaster literacy in geography lessons. The integration of this local material can enrich students' understanding of disaster mitigation measures, particularly erosion, while fostering awareness and concern for the environment among students.
