The issue of social vulnerability has become a major challenge in modern society, characterized by social inequality, exclusion, and limited access to resources. Vulnerable groups such as children, persons with disabilities, women, the elderly, and the poor often experience structural injustice that demands a multidisciplinary approach. This study aims to analyze the integration between sociological and social welfare perspectives in efforts to empower vulnerable groups through a comprehensive literature review method. Data were obtained from 37 national and international scholarly articles published between 2010 and 2025, then analyzed using content analysis techniques with a thematic approach. The findings reveal three main points: (1) Sociology plays a role in explaining the roots of social vulnerability through the analysis of social structures, power relations, and class stratification; (2) Social welfare contributes through community-based empowerment practices, social advocacy, and the strengthening of individual and group capacities; (3) The integration of both disciplines produces an interdisciplinary model that combines macro analysis (social structure) and micro intervention (individual and community empowerment). This model promotes inclusive, participatory, and equitable social change. The article emphasizes the importance of synergy between social theory and social work practice in strengthening empowerment policies for vulnerable groups in Indonesia. The findings also provide recommendations for the development of interdisciplinary curricula, capacity building for social workers, and the formulation of evidence-based and participatory social policies.
