Abstract

This study examines the distribution of Transjakarta bus stops in East Jakarta based on
population density in 2022. The research is grounded in the importance of equitable and
efficient public transportation systems to support urban mobility, especially in densely
populated areas. A qualitative descriptive method was used, employing Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) to analyze spatial data such as the locations of bus stops,
Transjakarta routes, administrative boundaries of sub-districts, and population density. The
findings reveal that the distribution of bus stops remains uneven, with some high-density
areas still underserved by the Transjakarta network. For instance, the sub-districts of
Matraman and Jatinegara, despite having high population densities, have relatively few bus
stops. This highlights the need for a reassessment of stop placement to better align with
residents’ mobility needs. The study aims to contribute to the planning and development of
a more equitable and sustainable public transportation system in East Jakarta.
