Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship and Contributorship

Jurnal Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Madani (JPMM) is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in authorship and contributorship. This policy ensures proper recognition is given for contributions to published works while fostering transparency, accountability, and fairness. The journal adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Criteria for Authorship

To qualify as an author, individuals must meet all the following criteria:

  • Substantial Contribution: Demonstrated significant involvement in the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.
  • Drafting and Revision: Actively participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for key intellectual content.
  • Approval of Final Version: Provided approval for the final version of the manuscript prior to submission.
  • Accountability: Accepted responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the work and is prepared to address or resolve any issues arising from it.
If multiple authors have made equal contributions, this must be clearly indicated in the manuscript, typically through a byline or a footnote.

Contributorship & CRediT

Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the Contributors or Acknowledgments section (e.g., data collection, technical support, funding acquisition).

JPMM encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to explicitly define individual contributions such as Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Validation, and Visualization.

Declaration & Changes

  • All authors must complete an Authorship and Contribution Form. The corresponding author ensures agreement among all authors.
  • Requests to alter the authorship list after submission require written justification and signed agreements from all original and proposed authors.
  • Unresolved disputes will be referred to institutions or funding bodies for arbitration per COPE guidelines.

Prevention of Misconduct

The journal strictly prohibits unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Gift Authorship: Crediting individuals who did not significantly contribute to the work.
  • Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who made significant contributions.
  • Honorary Authorship: Including individuals based solely on status or connections.

Transparency and Integrity: JPMM reserves the right to request additional documentation regarding authorship. Non-compliance with ethical standards may result in manuscript rejection, retraction of published work, or reporting to institutional authorities.
