Abstract

The field of mathematics is a subject that is a scourge for students. They often feel difficulty and fear in studying, understanding, describing, asking questions and memorizing so many mathematical formulas. Thus they end up hating mathematics and are afraid or reluctant to learn mathematics. The purpose of this study is to find out the problems of mathematics learning at public elementary schools 0703 Hutaraja Tinggi. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection using Observation and interviews with teachers as well as interviews with students. The results showed that students feel bored, afraid when studying mathematics Besides other factors, it is this teacher factor that is often considered to be the most important cause of why there are many students who feel fear or have a low interest in mathematics. Therefore, teachers must develop skills and abilities in teaching mathematics so that students become interested and interested in mathematics lessons.
