Communications recognizes the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and its ability to support authors throughout the research and writing process. Communications welcomes advances in this field, which provide opportunities to generate ideas, accelerate the dissemination of research findings, synthesize or analyze results, improve language usage, and draft manuscripts.
Large Language Models (LLMs) or Generative AI offer opportunities to accelerate research and its dissemination. While these opportunities can bring significant change, these technologies cannot replicate human creativity and critical thinking. Communications policy on the use of AI technology has been formulated to assist authors, reviewers, and editors in making ethical judgments regarding its use.
Authors are permitted to utilize AI tools to support various aspects of manuscript writing, including:

Authors utilizing AI tools are advised to:
Authors must adhere to ethical guidelines and academic integrity when using AI tools. Any copyright infringement or unethical practice will be considered a violation of publication ethics.
Manuscripts submitted to Communications , whether AI-assisted or not, will undergo a peer review process to assess scientific merit and compliance with ethical standards.
This policy on the use of AI tools may be reviewed and updated in accordance with developments in AI technology.
