Focus and Scope

Hayula: Indonesian Journal of Multidisciplinary Islamic Studies focuses on Islamic studies grounded in the Indonesian context, examining how Islamic values are articulated, negotiated, and practiced within education, Islamic law, and Islamic political thought as part of the social and religious life of Muslim communities in Indonesia.

The journal emphasizes Indonesia-based studies while welcoming contributions from international authors when Indonesia constitutes the primary object of analysis or serves as a key comparative reference. Submissions are expected to offer conceptual, theoretical, or empirical insights relevant to the study of Islam in Indonesian society.

Hayula publishes research articles, literature reviews, and conceptual papers within the following scope:

  1. Islamic Education
  • Islamic education and the integration of local wisdom in Indonesia
  • Character development, religiosity, and moral values in Indonesian educational contexts
  1. Islamic Law and Social–Religious Life
  • Interaction between Islamic legal norms (including muʿāmalāt and economic practices in social and religious contexts), local culture, and community traditions in Indonesia
  • Islamic law, religious practices, and social life in Indonesian Muslim communities
  • Zakat, waqf, and Islamic philanthropy as socio-religious practices
  1. Islamic Political Thought and Studies
  • Islam, politics, and religious life in Indonesian society
  • Islamic political thought in relation to Indonesian socio-religious dynamics

Out of Scope

Educational management studies; Classroom Action Research (PTK); purely technical or financial Islamic economics; doctrinal Islamic law without social context; practical political analysis; and studies not related to Indonesia.
