RYUSEN NO ZANKYO: INTEGRASI SUMINAGASHI DAN SHIBORI PADA READY TO WEAR DELUXE BERGAYA EDGY AUTHENTIC

Abstract

Abstrak: Penciptaan koleksi Ryusen No Zankyo dilatarbelakangi oleh kecenderungan penerapan teknik Shibori dan Suminagashi yang masih dilakukan secara terpisah dalam pengembangan tekstil fesyen kontemporer. Kondisi tersebut membuka peluang untuk menghadirkan pendekatan integratif yang mampu menyatukan karakter aliran organik tinta dengan struktur lipatan geometris ke dalam satu konsep visual dan teknis. Penciptaan ini bertujuan mengembangkan eksplorasi permukaan tekstil melalui integrasi teknik Suminagashi dan Shibori (Nagabori) dan pada busana ready to wear deluxe bergaya edgy authentic. Metode yang digunakan ialah three-stage design process dalam kerangka practice-based research yang meliputi tahap Problem Definition, Creative Exploration, dan Implementation. Hasil penciptaan menunjukkan bahwa perpaduan teknik Nagabori menghasilkan karakter visual dinamis melalui efek motif Suminagashi yang membuat pola marmer abstrak dan lipatan Shibori yang menghasilkan pola motif geometris. Komposisi pewarna akrilik pada Suminagashi dan pewarna indigofera pada teknik Shibori memperkuat identitas motif kain dan desain koleksi.Selain menghadirkan nilai estetis yang unik, integrasi teknik tersebut juga membentuk kesatuan visual antara tekstil dan siluet busana. Penciptaan ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan inovasi teknik permukaan tekstil sebagai alternatif eksplorasi artistik dalam desain fesyen kontemporer.Kata kunci: Shibori, Suminagashi, ready to wear deluxe, edgy authentic, eksplorasi tekstil.

Abstract: The creation of the Ryusen No Zankyo collection was inspired by the tendency to apply Shibori and Suminagashi techniques separately in the development of contemporary fashion textiles. This condition creates an opportunity to establish an integrative approach capable of combining the organic flow of ink patterns with geometric folded structures within a unified visual and technical concept. This creation aims to develop textile surface exploration through the integration of Suminagashi and Shibori techniques, referred to as Nagabori, in edgy authentic ready-to-wear deluxe fashion. The method employed was the three-stage design process within a practice-based research framework, consisting of the stages of Problem Definition, Creative Exploration, and Implementation. The results of the creation demonstrate that the Nagabori technique produces dynamic visual characteristics through flowing motif effects, folded textures, and color compositions that strengthen the collection’s design identity. In addition to presenting unique aesthetic values, the integration of these techniques also creates visual harmony between the textile surface and garment silhouette. This creation contributes to the development of innovative textile surface techniques as an alternative form of artistic exploration in contemporary fashion design.
