PENCIPTAAN BUSANA READY TO WEAR INSPIRASI TOPENG CIREBON DENGAN TEKNIK SULAM LEKAPAN BENANG

Abstract

Abstrak: Topeng Cirebon merupakan kesenian lokal yang berasal dari Cirebon, Jawa Barat, yang mencakup unsur seni tari, musik, dan rupa yang telah mengakar dalam kehidupan masyarakatnya sebagai simbol siklus hidup manusia. Secara visual, kesenian ini merepresentasikan karakter manusia yang beragam dalam kehidupan. Penciptaan ini didasari oleh Topeng Cirebon masih minim dijadikan inspirasi dalam industri fashion kontemporer oleh desainer-desainer sebelumnya. Hal inilah yang  menjadi landasan kuat bagi pengkaryaan ini untuk menciptakan sebuah inovasi busana masa kini yang mampu merepresentasikan dua (2) jenis topeng Cirebon yang tetap konsisten mengedepankan aspek fungsionalitas bagi penggunanya. Pada karya ini  menggabungkan dengan pengaplikasian teknik sulam lekapan benang  yang memberikan tekstur pada permukaan busana dan menghasilkan visual yang lebih jelas serta nilai tambah. Penciptaan ini tidak hanya fokus pada estetika semata, tetapi juga bertujuan untuk memperkaya perbendaharaan dan variasi bentuk busana yang distingtif jika dibandingkan dengan karya-karya sejenis yang telah ada sebelumnya. Dengan menggunakan metode practice-led research yang mencakup rangkaian proses sistematis meliputi tahapan praperancangan, perancangan, pewujudan, dan penyajian, penelitian ini berhasil menghasilkan dua (2) look busana ready-to-wear yang inovatif. Melalui hasil akhir ini, diharapkan karya tersebut dapat menjadi referensi baru dalam pengembangan busana berbasis tradisi yang relevan dengan kebutuhan industri fashion modern saat ini.

Abstract: Cirebon masks are a local art form originating from Cirebon, West Java. They encompass elements of dance, music, and visual arts, deeply rooted in the community's life as a philosophical symbol of the human life cycle. Visually, this art form represents the diverse character of human life. Visually, this art form represents the diverse character of human life. This creation is based on the Cirebon mask, which has rarely been used as inspiration in the contemporary fashion industry by previous designers. This is what is a strong foundation for this work to create a contemporary fashion innovation that is able to represent two (2) types of Cirebon masks that consistently prioritize the functional aspect for the user. This work combines the application of thread embroidery techniques which provide texture to the surface of the clothing and produce clearer visuals and added value. This creation does not only focus on aesthetics alone, but also aims to enrich the repertoire and variation of distinctive clothing forms when compared to similar works that have existed before. By using the practice-led research method which includes a series of systematic processes including pre-design, design, realization and presentation stages, this research succeeded in producing two (2) innovative ready-to-wear fashion looks. Through this final result, it is hoped that this work can become a new reference in the development of tradition based clothing that is relevant to the needs of today's modern fashion industry.
