The utilization of waste cooking oil as a biodiesel feedstock provides a dual benefit, reducing household waste and offering an alternative renewable energy sources. However, biodiesel produced from waste cooking oil via transesterification often contains impurities such as glycerol, soap, and residual catalyst, which can degrade its quality. This community service activity aimed to introduce an innovative biodiesel purification method by integrating centrifugation and electrocoagulation processes to students of the Industrial Chemical Engineering program at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Kepanjen. Centrifugation was employed to accelerate the separation of biodiesel and glycerol phases, while electrocoagulation effectively and efficiently precipitated dissolved impurities. This integrated process produced a shorter purification time up to 60% faster compared to conventional wet and dry washing methods and resulted in a clearer and more stable biodiesel product. The training was conducted through hands-on laboratory sessions, actively involving students in material preparation, equipment operation, and result evaluation. The learning outcomes showed a significant improvement, with the average student score increasing up to 63%. Furthermore, the program provided added value for the partner school by increasing students’ knowledge of renewable energy, improving their skills in operating laboratory equipment, and offering a project-based learning experience that supports the vocational curriculum. This activity demonstrates a tangible contribution to strengthening vocational competencies and presents a purification approach with strong potential for replication in other vocational schools.
