Pendampingan Teknologi Musik melalui Implementasi Playback Berbasis Stems di Gereja Bethel Indonesia (GBI) Rock BSD City

Limited and unstable musician availability presents a recurring challenge to the music ministry at GBI Rock BSD City because the church previously lacked a flexible and reusable playback system. Stems-based playback is a music playback system that separates instrumental elements into audio groups that can be activated or deactivated according to the available musician lineup. This community service program aimed to provide music technology assistance through the implementation of stems-based playback at GBI Rock BSD City when the musician lineup was incomplete. The program comprised partner-needs identification, repertoire curation, stem production, Ableton Live template development, technical assistance for one initial operator, trials in three worship services, and descriptive qualitative evaluation based on team observations and partner feedback. The program produced a bank of 16 worship songs in stem format, a playback template, and initial use during worship services. The trials indicated that the system could provide flexible instrumental support, although its use was not yet fully stable in live musical practice. The main challenge concerned performer synchronization because adequate click tracks, count-ins, vocal cues, and monitoring were not yet available. Further development should focus on improving audio guidance, establishing operating procedures, conducting joint rehearsals, and preparing an additional operator.
