Changes to Authorship
Changes to Authorship
Jurnal Studi Al-Qur'an (JSQ)
The editors of Jurnal Studi Al-Qur'an (JSQ) generally will not consider changes to authorship once a manuscript has been submitted. Authors are expected to carefully determine the authorship list and the order of authors, ensuring that a definitive author list is provided at the time of original submission.
Policy on Authorship Changes
- Completeness: All authors must be listed in the manuscript, and their respective details must be accurately entered into the submission system.
- Constraint: Additions, deletions, or rearrangements of author names are highly discouraged and will only be considered if approved by the journal editor.
- Timeline: Requests for changes will not be considered after an editorial "accept" decision has been made.
Submission of Requests
- Initiation: Requests to change authorship must be made by the corresponding author.
- Justification and Consent: The corresponding author must provide a valid reason for the request to the journal editor, accompanied by written confirmation from all authors—including those being added or removed—stating their agreement with the change.
- Documentation: All authorship change requests must be submitted using the official form during the revision stage. Requests that do not comply with the instructions outlined in the form will not be considered.
Exceptional Circumstances and Ethical Compliance
- Post-Acceptance: Only in exceptional circumstances will the journal editor consider the addition, deletion, or rearrangement of authors after the manuscript has been accepted for publication.
- Publication Hold: The publication process may be paused while a request for a change in authorship is under review.
- Post-Publication: Any authorship change requests approved by the journal editor that occur after the manuscript has been published will result in the issuance of a corrigendum.
- Unauthorized Changes: Any unauthorized changes to authorship may result in the immediate rejection of the article, or retraction if the article has already been published.
Deceased or Incapacitated Co-Authors
- Deceased Authors: If a co-author passes away prior to submission or during the peer-review process, the remaining authors may choose to include their name within the Acknowledgements section. In cases where the deceased author was the sole author and the journal is notified by a third party, the manuscript will be withdrawn.
- Incapacitated Authors: If a co-author becomes unwell or incapacitated during the peer-review process, rendering them unable to provide final approval for submission or publication, the submission will be placed on hold until the co-author is able to approve the publication.
