Author Guidelines
Jurnal Studi Al-Qur'an (JSQ)
1. General Requirements
- Originality: The article must be original, free from any form of plagiarism, and not currently under consideration for publication in another journal.
- Language & Formatting: Written in standard Indonesian or English. Microsoft Word format, A4 paper size. For layout convenience, authors are encouraged to use the Manuscript Template of JSQ.
- Layout: Text must be 1.5 spaced, justified (aligned left and right), with a 1 cm paragraph indentation.
- Font: Main text uses Times New Roman, size 12. Arabic text must use Sakkala Majjala, size 16.
- Length: The manuscript should be between 15 and 30 pages (including references).
- Submission: Manuscripts must be submitted through the JSQ official OJS portal.
2. Article Structure
The article should be structured sequentially as follows:
- Title: Concise, specific (maximum 15 words), Times New Roman 12, bold, centered.
- Author Information: Names (without academic titles), Prodi/Faculty/Affiliation, and email address.
- Abstract & Keywords: Must be in both Indonesian and English. Written as a single paragraph (English: 100-200 words; Indonesian: 100-150 words) covering the problem, objectives, methods, and results. Provide 3 to 5 keywords or phrases.
- Introduction: Covers background, research problem, objectives, theoretical framework, and relevant literature.
- Research Methods: Describe the research design, subjects/population, data collection, and analysis techniques.
- Results and Discussion: Present findings clearly with scientific interpretation. Use numbered subtopics (1, 2, ...) and sub-subtopics (a, b, ...).
- Conclusion: Summarize key findings, address research questions, and provide recommendations.
3. Tables, Figures, and Images
- Formatting: Labels and titles must be centered, bold, and font 12.
- Content & Sources: Table content uses font 8-11, single-spaced. Sources and notes for tables/figures must be placed below them, centered, using Times New Roman 11.
- Requirement: All tables and figures must be actively cited and discussed in the text.
4. Citation and Referencing Style
- System: JSQ strictly uses the footnote system based on the Turabian 8th Edition. Bodynote or endnote is not permitted.
- Footnote Formatting: Must include full author name, title (italicized), place of publication, publisher, year, and page.
- Repeated Citations: Use short titles; do not use ibid., op.cit., or loc.cit.
- Bibliography: Only include sources cited in the footnotes. 80% of references should be primary sources from the last 10 years.
5. Transliteration & Islamic References
- Transliteration: Arabic-to-Latin transliteration must follow the Library of Congress (LoC) guidelines using the Times New Arabic font.
- Qur'an: Include surah name, surah number, and verse number in brackets, e.g., (QS al-Mu'min [40]:43).
- Hadith: Mention the narrator (e.g., HR al-Bukhari) and refer to standard books (Kutub Tis'ah).
6. Additional Sections
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts as per our Ethics Statement or explicitly state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."
- Funding: Authors must specify financial support or state: "No funding was received for this research."
- Acknowledgments: Brief gratitude for technical or financial support.
7. Manuscript Assessment Process
Any accepted manuscript will be reviewed by at least two reviewers, alongside editorial comments. The author is required to revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' and editors' comments. The editorial team will then process it for later publication.
