Abstract

This research stems from the increasing attention towards transformational leadership and digital leadership, which are believed to influence employee performance in the era of technological change. The aim is to map the development of research and identify the main conceptual structures linking these three themes. This study employs a systematic literature review combined with bibliometric analysis through keyword network mapping obtained from international publication databases. From a selection of articles, thirty publications are analysed using network visualisation, resulting in four dominant idea clusters that illustrate the relationships between motivation, organisational commitment, digital leadership, and technological change with work performance. The findings indicate a shift in leadership approaches towards models that integrate transformational nurturing values with the ability to utilise technology. This concludes that there is a need to develop hybrid leadership models and encourages further research to assess their application in public organisations and semi-military education.
